All India Women’s conference Santacruz (E) Branch

All India Women’s Conference (NGO) founded in 1927 to carry forward institutional work on national level. We have a total of 600 branches all over India. The right to vote, the right to education for women was the main aim of this constitution and by hard work and effort of all we were able to accomplish it as well. Margaret Cousins, Sarojini Naidu, Muthulaxmi Reddy, Vijayalaxmi Pandit, Laxmi Menon are the founders of AIWC.

There are 20 branches of AIWC in Mumbai and 14,700 members to continue the social perspective work.

Our AIWC Santacruz East constituent branch was established in the year 1967 and its members stands at 550.Founder members were Smt Kamuben Desai, Smt Sharad Desai, Smt Manju Desai, Smt Sudha Dalal,

The Branch got own premises from B.M.C. on lease for ninety nine years since February 1992.This has became possible due to the great efforts of our President smt Ashaben Merchant and our corporate Shri A.K. Bastiwala who helped us lot in acquiring this premise.

Under the leadership of our presidents, we could bring our work to a greater height. Smt. Rohiniben Bastawala,Sarojben Mehta, Smt Nivedita Sheth, Smt. Meera Dharwadkar, Smt. Yogini Desai, Smt. Kishoriben Sheth and Naliniben Shah were the presidents of our branch.  At present our President is Smt. Kamini Mehta, and Secretary is Smt. Devyani Vora.
The following are the main projects of our branch: 

  • Balwadi for slum children in English in two shifts
  • Karate, dance, Yoga classes
  • Educational and computer coaching classes
  • Homeopathy, physiotherapy clinics
  • Health check up camps

Newly open India’s first Rehabilitation Centre of Spinal Cord Injury and O.P.D. centre of Nina Foundation ‘(NGO).  On every Wednesday at 2.3pm to 5.3pm at our Community Hall. Santacruz East


  • Balwadi is run every day for students who cannot afford basic education fees. We provide them with free school uniforms, snacks and stationeries. We have been successful in providing 146-150 kids proper foundation. We also provide these kids with further easy admissions in reputed schools like Podar in Santacruz West.
  • Awareness & Health Checkup Camps We organize Cancer Detection Camps every three months at Tata Memorial Hospital. We have got very good response for this awareness and checkup program. Few people who were detected ailment were also provided with treatment at the hospital.
    We also conduct medical camps for HIV detection, deficiency of calcium and other routine diagnosis.
    There are also eye checkup camps and free cataract operations for people with less means.


We also held awareness camps on Human Rights and Legal Advises.

You can help us in the following manner:

  • Corpus donation of any amount where the interest will be used for day to day activity. Capital donation of Rs. 5,000/- or above and interest will be used in daily expenses of any specified day by the donor.
  • General donation of any amount for the welfare of the organization.
  • Donation to the trust is exempt under 80G of income tax act 1961.
